Thank you for using Pair with Me. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal and financial information.
1. Information We Collect
When you use Pair with Me, we collect and store the following information:
- Account Information: Email address, name, and password (encrypted)
- Financial Data: Transaction amounts, categories, descriptions, dates, and account information
- Partner Information: If you create a group with a partner, we store the relationship and shared data preferences
- Usage Data: Basic app usage patterns to improve the service
- AI-Generated Insights: When you use the "Ask Your Money" feature, we create anonymized summaries of your financial data (spending categories, account balances, and bill amounts). These summaries never include your name, email, merchant names, or transaction descriptions. The anonymized summaries are processed by a third-party AI service (Google Gemini) to generate personalized financial insights.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide and improve our service:
- To enable you to track your personal and shared finances
- To sync data between you and your partner (if you create a group)
- To generate spending insights, reports, and visualizations
- To send important notifications about your account
- To provide customer support when you contact us
- To provide AI-powered financial insights through the "Ask Your Money" feature, using anonymized summaries of your spending data
3. Data Security
We take data security seriously:
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest
- Secure Storage: Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase with enterprise-grade security
- Password Protection: Passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt encryption
- Access Control: Only you and your partner (if you've created a group) can access your shared financial data
4. Data Sharing
We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Your financial data is only shared:
- With your partner, if you explicitly invite them and they accept
- With service providers necessary to operate our app (e.g., database hosting), under strict confidentiality agreements
- With Google's Gemini AI service, solely to generate financial insights when you use the "Ask Your Money" feature. Only anonymized, aggregated financial summaries are shared — never your name, email, merchant names, or transaction details. Google's API terms prohibit using this data for model training. You can opt out by simply not using the feature.
5. Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time
- Correction: You can edit or update your information anytime
- Deletion: You can delete individual transactions, accounts, or your entire account from the app settings
- Data Export: Contact us if you want a complete export of your data
- Opt-out: You can leave a shared group at any time
6. Data Retention
- We retain your data as long as your account is active
- If you delete your account, all your personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days
- Backup copies are retained for up to 90 days for disaster recovery purposes, then permanently deleted
7. Children's Privacy
Pair with Me is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
8. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate our app:
- Supabase: Database hosting and authentication (Privacy Policy)
- Render: Backend server hosting (Privacy Policy)
- Expo: Mobile app development and distribution (Privacy Policy)
- Google Gemini AI: AI-powered financial insights generation. Only anonymized financial summaries are processed. (API Terms)
9. Artificial Intelligence Features
Pair with Me uses AI to help you understand your finances better:
- What the AI sees: Anonymized spending summaries (e.g., "Groceries: $520, 15 transactions"). Your name is replaced with anonymous placeholders before being sent to the AI service.
- What the AI does NOT see: Your real name, email, bank names, service provider names, merchant names, transaction descriptions, or any other personally identifiable information.
- Data retention: AI conversations are not stored. Each session is ephemeral — when you close the chat, the conversation is deleted from memory.
- Opt-out: The AI feature is entirely optional. Your app works fully without it. Simply do not use the "Ask Your Money" feature to avoid any AI data processing.
- No training: Your data is never used to train AI models. Google's paid API terms prohibit using customer prompts for model improvement.
- Not financial advice: AI-generated insights are for informational purposes only and do not constitute financial, tax, or investment advice. Always consult a qualified professional for financial decisions.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
11. International Users
Your information may be transferred to and stored on servers located in the United States. By using Pair with Me, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.
12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to know what personal information we collect and how it's used
- Right to delete your personal information (with some exceptions)
- Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)
